Q&A – John Hannah

John Hannah has been a prominent member of MTTC for nearly a decade. He was part of a strong group of kids that also included the likes of Calum Morrison & Jamie Crawley. The three of them picked up the Handicap Cup for ESC in 2012-13 with a combined age of 40 (a record at the time). John made rapid progress through the ELTTL, representing ESC for 3 seasons and then MTTC I in 2015-2016. His breakthrough ELTTL season was 2013-14 during which he won the Mike McLaren Quaich (and was runner-up the following year) and picked up the Mike Allison Shield as leading junior in the ELTTL.

Murrayfield Lockdown Quiz

Dear club members, you are all invited to the first ever Murrayfield lockdown Quiz! In essence, we’ve attempted to create a socially distanced “pub quiz” with questions on Murrayfield TTC, its members and achievements, table tennis in general as well as a smattering of general knowledge questions spread throughout. Don’t be in any doubt, of course under 18’s are encouraged to join, as long as they stick to the orange squash!

Q&A – Gordon Muir

Gordon Muir has been involved in table tennis from an early age. Initially coached by his father Lindsay he has gone on to become a coach himself. From 2015 until Early 2020 he was head coach of Murrayfield Memorial Table Tennis Club, where he coached hundreds of players including John Hannah, Calum Morrison, Faye Leggett, Charlie McGowan & Haydn Jackson. He has acted as an NPC for Scottish teams at several Schools Internationals and is a current member of TTS Selection Committee.

MTTC Season Summary 19/20

Before it was prematurely curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2019 2020 season was a highly successful one for the club. The season demonstrated great strength in depth within the club and the continuing progress of the club’s squad of young players – a tribute to the coaching programme led by Gordon & Lindsay Muir.
